Rim Jobs glitch Edit

The idiot with the hard to obtain white X-2 Phantom is a dummy. That is the Rim Jobs glitch, when customizing any 'normal' vehicle; taking it to the shop to customize it. Select garage, go to the non-customizable vehicle you want (in this case the X-2 Phantom) select it till the "Retrieve" option is shown. Press back (Square,B) back to the vehicle, select it again to the same "retrieve" screen and back out the garage completely. If done correctly the non-customizable will now be customizable. (Unsigned: 184.5.236.162 03:09, 8 December 2011)

User:Andre Rodriguez has been re-adding information to the article which other users have been removing, see the page history for a full overview of the edits.
Specifically, he is claiming that his "rare" variants are unlocked after specific requirements are met during the Trail Blazing activity.
"the player must destroy all the blue time bonus tanks, while also being sure not to hit any of the red time penalties."
User:Cobra9597 says: (This information is false, Volition strictly confirmed only one variant of the X-2 exists, and it's given after the completion of Trail Blazing. Obviously, the white version has been RimJobs glitched.) Please Andre, do us all a favor and stop with the false information.
This information is not to be re-added to the article until there has been confirmation from a regular editor. --452 04:37, December 14, 2011 (UTC)

The name of this vehicle Edit

In the garage, is it X-2 Phantom, or X-2 phantom? --452 11:34, December 11, 2011 (UTC)

As always, vehicle names are completely upper-case when viewed in the garage. It'd probably be X-2 Phantom though, right? – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 16:16, December 11, 2011 (UTC)
Oh right, damn. Same with Foreign Power then, I'm guessing? I guess this one will have to wait until after I have the data files, I should probably get right on that. I guess it would probably be X-2 Phantom, the names displayed on-screen when entering have never exactly been reliable. --452 06:40, December 13, 2011 (UTC)
No Foreign Power in this game, just Rim Jobs - but yeah, same deal. Also, I have access to the game files myself, but I have no idea how to view vpp_pc files. I downloaded something that allows to unpack them, but I'm too stupid to figure out how to get it to work. So basically I'm waiting on you. No pressure. :P – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 18:37, December 13, 2011 (UTC)
I have the vpp_pc files, but because I refuse to install steam, I can't use the new unpacker. You can get it here: http://minimaul.sr3mods.com/?page=saintsrowthethird - Eventually, I'll bug a friend who uses steam, and unpack the files at his house. --452 03:00, December 14, 2011 (UTC)
Damn, I'm getting 404'd when I attempt to download it. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 15:18, December 14, 2011 (UTC)
After messing around with the previous download, I've managed to unpack them, but this shit is insane. The audio files don't play and the modding forum I'm looking at says you need to download some stuff and convert the files to get them to play, which I just can't be arsed to do. And all the other files seem to be in further formats I don't recognise. Was Saints Row 2 like this as well? What a pain. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 23:00, December 14, 2011 (UTC)
Yes, very much so. Which is why when anyone asks, I just tell them I don't know, because I forget everything I had to do to unpack everything! There was a lot of overnight batch processing to unpack and convert all the files. Do XWB Extractor, EkszBox, xactxtract, and xmaencode sound familiar? --452 02:38, December 15, 2011 (UTC)
Nope, not at all! – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 14:42, December 15, 2011 (UTC)
Well, they're they tools I used for SR2. Good news! I'm currently extracting the SR:TT files, and could have done it all along. --452 00:46, December 18, 2011 (UTC)
Once you've run the RecursiveUnpacker, the xtbl files should be human readable. If you would like the tools I've used to extract various data files, as well as the textures, I can zip them and upload them for you. I've made some .bat files to recursively process them, makes everything simple. --452 04:33, December 18, 2011 (UTC)
Erm, I think I'm alright. Unless you'd prefer it if I'd look through it I think it'd be better leaving it to you as I wouldn't know what I was looking at/for. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 15:02, December 18, 2011 (UTC)
NP, btw, I tried to find the "saints row bitches" audio amongst what I've already sorted, but haven't been able to. Any idea which saint says it? Knowing the race would help, but not greatly, I've sorted the white male and female voices, but the asian, hispanic and black voices are all unsorted, and there's over 6000 files in each folder. --452 22:16, December 18, 2011 (UTC)
I think it's actually just a random civilian line. If you can't find it, it's honestly no problem. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 17:31, December 19, 2011 (UTC)
It actually is a random civillian line, I always hear it when someone passes by in a modified vehicle. A Bezier for example. SUV-Riderz. 18:42, December 19, 2011 (UTC)
Excellent, I'll listen to all the WM civilians and see what I find. --452 22:35, December 19, 2011 (UTC)
Although, i should point out that there is no such thing as a "random civilian line". There are 55 white male voices in the game. They each have about 200 lines, and only say their own lines. Types: army, athlete, biker, bitter husband, bouncer, brass knuckles, brotherhood, cameraman, cameraman fuzz, construction worker, coughs, dock worker, doctor, drunk, EMT, FBI, firefighter, goth, grandfather, hippy, hobo (crazy), hot dog, mailman, masako, nuclear worker, patient, philosotologist, pilot, pimp, pirate, police, prisoner, punk, redneck, rich british, ronin, rustys needle, saint, samedi, sports fan, student, surfer frat boy, ultor security - These titles are just what I called him after listening to them. --452 22:39, December 19, 2011 (UTC)
Good god. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 23:56, December 19, 2011 (UTC)
But, I found it anyway: File:SR2 VOC WM 06271 Saints Row, Bitches.ogg, it's said by what I named as a "student". I'm listening through now to work out what I thought he is a student. He's the same guy who talks about Aisha's head on vbay, incidentally. --452 00:23, December 20, 2011 (UTC)
Ah, he talks about his scholarship, he should probably be marked as "frat boy", rather than "student" actually, given his lines about drinking and keggers. He also mentions "looking at porn before before class". --452 00:24, December 20, 2011 (UTC)
Answer: Display_Name = X-2 PHANTOM
All vehicle names are stored in upper case in the vehicle files. Thanks Volition!
So we have the option of following the style shown onscreen (X-2 phantom), or going with normal capitalisation. --452 04:31, December 18, 2011 (UTC)
I say we stick with normal capitalisation/X-2 Phantom. I don't trust the stylized logo, as the x looks more like a λ in my opinion. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 15:02, December 18, 2011 (UTC)

Gallery Error Edit

Why does the caption on the 5th photo in the slide show say a glitched X-2? It's just a black phantom. --Spanish Overlord 22:01, December 16, 2011 (UTC)

Modifications Edit

I summoned the X-2 Phantom with a cheat, and it can be modified at Rim Jobs normally. Can someone please confirm whether the unlocked X-2 Phantom can be modified normally?
Since there is only one, the cheat version should be identical to the unlocked version.
There was a lot of fuss about modified versions of this vehicle, with one person specifically claiming that the only way to modify it was via the glitch, but at no time did anyone state that it could be modified normally. --452 06:47, June 27, 2012 (UTC)

I looked over the article history. This started when one user added an image of a modified vehicle and labelled it as being "rare". Another user claimed that it was not "rare", and that it was modified using the Rim Jobs Glitch. Since then, it's gone back and forth, with the original user going on to claim that it was a special unlocked vehicle, which was simply untrue. At no time did the original user admit to modifying the vehicle, and multiple users have claimed that the Rim Jobs Glitch was the only way to modify the X-2 Phantom. --452 06:59, June 27, 2012 (UTC)
Nope, it tells me it's a "NON CUSTOMIZABLE VEHICLE". What cheat did you use to get the vehicle? – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 22:42, July 28, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the info, I'll have to dig into the data files and see where it's defined as non customizble. The cheat was probably one I added to the cheat file myself. --452 01:49, July 29, 2012 (UTC)
Something just occurred to me: can any unlockable vehicle in SRTT be customized? In Saints Row 2, some could, some couldn't, each variant had a "unique" flag, so even summoning a certain variant with a cheat meant it couldn't be customized (although the variant file can be edited to remove the unique flag)
Perhaps in SRTT, all unlocked vehicles are inherently noncustomizable, which means summoning the same vehicle with a cheat allows them to be edited.
I guess the most obvious test of this is: Can normal gang vehicles driving around be customized? I know the unlocked gang vehicles can't. --452 02:54, July 29, 2012 (UTC)
I'll go and check this in a minute, but I'll have to start a new game as there aren't any enemy gang vehicles driving around any more. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 20:46, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
Alright, normal gang vehicles can be customized. Just tried it with the Deckers' Solar and Criminal. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 22:08, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
Cheers, I think we can safely assume that "unlocked vehicles can never be customized". We do need to compile a list of "normal vehicles which can never be customized". I'm pretty sure that the "Tank" class are the only vehicles which an never be customized. --452 23:47, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
Police Kenshins can't be customized, it seems, which I found weird. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 10:34, August 2, 2012 (UTC)
  • takes a look*, ah, that one uses the old style of making the vehicle unique.
There's also a "Stunts" Phoenix - which would be the Bandit from SR2 - which Burt drives, apparently that can't be modified.
Also unique are the Challenger, the ASP, the Flatbed, 5 of 10 Anchors (All Tiger Escort variants, and the Zimos variant) - so even if summoned by a cheat, non of those can be modified normally unless the vehicle definition file is edited.
Most DLC vehicles are specifically set as unique, except the Verminator, Manapult and Torbitron. But if they're unlockables, they'll be non-modifiable anyway.

Rude Comment Edit

"<--- wtf are you retarded it has no customizable parts retard" (Left in article by 68.103.53.72 on 07:58, July 1, 2012)

Unnecessary, the Rim Jobs glitch allows you to customize this, along with any other normally unique, vehicle. Please do not attack within the article, or at all for that matter. 97.102.235.145 23:40, July 1, 2012 (UTC)
Right you are, and thank you very much for removing the comment. --452 06:37, July 2, 2012 (UTC)

Saints row IV? Normally spawnsEdit

Hey so I was playing saints row 4 when I saw one of these and I was shoked because the onlything I did was start a activitie. Zombo-tech (talk) 19:15, August 24, 2013 (UTC)

The X-2 Phantom does not randomly spawn in Saints Row IV. Perhaps you were thinking of the Kaneda? -452 (talk) 23:43, March 28, 2014 (UTC)

Hubless Wheels Edit

These are not unrealistic...anyone who knows motorcycles has heard about these...you can search many examples online. 74.58.253.155 04:05, July 8, 2014 (UTC)
