DaedalusEdit

I don't about anyone else, but I'll be very disappointed if the there is a Saints Daedalus in Saints Row 4. That would be one of the greatest things in a sandbox game to have. Talk during the final mission where you kill Cyrus suggests that the Saints could build their own Daedalus within a few years. What do you guys think? (unsigned: Raadec - 15:21, December 27, 2011)

Hmm, maybe. I can't see how they could implement it in a way that it could be balanced. I can think of more important issues the next game should address. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 13:12, December 28, 2011 (UTC)
Since it says 1 year after the events of The third i wouldn't believe the daedalus would be built i really want to play with it though.
They should allow you to do a mass effect style thing in which it brings over all your previous games data E.g. character level, upgrades, vehicles, DLC homies, choices made (Saving shaundi was canon i think(Hopefully)) (unsigned:KSI xLongShotz 18:22, June 22, 2012 (UTC))

Design Doc Leaked!Edit

Star saints

There is no proof this is real

UI N-A

An ex-Volition worker leaked the doc. Enjoy: Download

It confirms alot of juicy details. It was leaked onto the SR forums this morning and taken down quick.
Ccrogers15 20:12, January 14, 2012 (UTC)

UPDATE: For those worried about viruses and macros, here is a read-only PDF conversion: download PDF version
(unsigned: User:Ccrogers15 23:00, January 15, 2012)

That doesn't look legit at all - it reads more like it was written by a fan. In fact, I believe this should be removed from the article unless its validity can be confirmed. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 21:16, January 14, 2012 (UTC)
I think it's removal from the official forums without comment is a good indication of it's provenance. If it was fan-created, surely V-Singular would just post "Umm, guys, that's fake". If it was ever posted to the forums at all... is there proof? Ccrogers15 may have created it and made up that story. --452 21:36, January 14, 2012 (UTC)
Ah. Now that I've opened the file... "RELEASE DATE: Targeted for Spring 2013". It's not real. --452 22:35, January 14, 2012 (UTC)
And more importantly than anything else: That file looks nothing like a professional design document. (Sometimes I forget that I went to university for software development and actually know a thing or two about this stuff.) --452 23:20, January 14, 2012 (UTC)
I'm almost positive it's fan-made since the series gets more grander and crazier in each game not to mention the overall tone of series suggests the 'kill killbane' ending as saints row isn't a happy story with a hero but rather a tale of a power-mad sociopath on a constantly renewed journey for vengeance with a soft spot for friends and first-degree murder. Alphahelo 22:26, January 14, 2012 (UTC)
I imagine it was deleted because it's fake and the most obvious reason to post a link to a fake file is because it's a virus. Admin probably didn't want to risk his computer checking. 213.205.224.224 23:10, January 14, 2012 (UTC)
If an admin is too stupid to open a .doc file as a .txt file, then he should not be an admin of anything. --452 23:17, January 14, 2012 (UTC)
Still, no point downloading something in a format notorious for containing macro viruses if you've no reason to think it's legit. Also official forums tend to delete claims of leaked info on sight regardless of whether they're legit or not since leaks can actually harm the publisher financially (because it devalues exclusive preview access which game sites and magazines would normally pay for). 213.205.224.96 23:36, January 14, 2012 (UTC)
If there's no reason to think it's legit, the forum admin should have stated so. Removing without explanation will only make people think it's being disappeared because it's real. Now, the design doc, fake or not, is out in the wild with no official statement about it.
If the admin had simply stated "haha, that's laughably fake" and locked the thread, the rumour it was true would die much faster.
If he had done that, we wouldn't even be having this conversation, and I'm sure this exact conversation is happening at other places right now and will continue to happen until SR4 is released, in the form of "hey, I just found this .doc file, is it legit?" with the only answer being "nobody knows for sure because Volition won't say anything".
Deleting without explanation always does more harm that good, that's why when I remove something from an article here, I explain why in an edit summary, and often repeat the same thing on an articles talk page, if I think there's any chance of it being re-added. Any admin who doesn't know the importance of dispelling rumours before they get wings shouldn't be an admin. --452 23:50, January 14, 2012 (UTC)
You say that, but if an admin goes on record denying it the wonks just pull the "they wouldn't officially deny it if there was nothing to it!" angle instead. Simply removing it because it's someone shamelessly promoting their own ideas as official ones (ie, because it's fraudulent) will be taken the right way by some and gets rid of the link, thus denying them the publicity they wanted. 213.205.224.224 23:57, January 14, 2012 (UTC)
Obviously no amount of rumour control is going to matter to conspiracy nuts who will choose to believe whatever they want regardless of evidence. --452 00:17, January 15, 2012 (UTC)

Jason Rubin Edit

Looks like Saints Row 4 now has no chance of improving the series. I'm sure Volition are none too happy with censorship from the publisher. Distaste over SRTT's tone and humor? Has this clown played Saints Row? Saints Row: The Third is tame in comparison. Adult humor and language have been the cornerstone of the entire series. I was making a list of words which are used within the game, in order to add an "acceptable words" list to the Manual of Style, and I was a little surprised to find many more than I was expecting. Along with "shit", "piss", "fuck", "cunt", "cocksucker", "motherfucker", and "tits", the series also uses "ass", "asshole", "bullshit, "bitches", "cock", "nigga" (spelled that way only), "slut", "wanker" and "whore".
Several of those only appear in Saints Row, and not Saints Row: The Third, and some of these words may apply to Jason Rubin, who will probably make a cameo as a hitman target in Saints Row 4. --452 01:29, June 14, 2012 (UTC)

To be honest, I found SRTT a bit too blunt. It's not that I am faint of heart (I'm not, trust me), It's that I prefer some more cleverness. Example: in SR2 I found FUZZ to be hilarious. Along with funny lines and action it offers some social commentary. In SRTT the whole Professor Genki ""Murder Time, Fun Time" thing is just plainly psychopathic, devoid of any subtle humor. SuperNull 09:33, June 14, 2012 (UTC)
It's alright, guys - this guy made Crash Bandicoot! In all seriousness though, of all the things I felt SR:TT lacked in, its crass humour was not one of them. At this point it's what makes Saints Row. I'm quite interested in seeing what this next game will become under new leadership though, but I don't agree with him on where the game's shortcomings were. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 13:02, June 15, 2012 (UTC)
I'm with SuperNull on this one. Saints Row and Saints Row 2 were unintentionally funny. Saints Row: The Third was trying to be funny, which ruined much of its charm to me. It's like a child who does something accidental and people laugh, but then the child starts doing the same act intentionally to get more laughs. It's not that it's horrid, it's just not as good. More important than the sense of humour to me though, is the gameplay. There was ALOT more stuff to do in Saints Row 2 than The Third - and that needs to be corrected. Customization (While improved in some areas) also took a turn for the worse. Bump those two up, expand the stable of vehicles and weapons, and you'll have word-of-mouth advertising in spades. RomeoReject 16:46, June 22, 2012 (UTC)
Personally, I thought the humor in SR3 was more silly than funny. I had no problem with the adult humor in SR3, but I thought they went about it pretty childishly - like teenagers who just discovered what a dildo was for the first time. I think they got the wrong message from SR2's sleeper success and decided what the fans want is "more zany, wacky, kooky, madcap, insane, sexy sexy fun time galore!" Random humor can be damn funny, but it lacks impact if that's all that ever fuckin happens. The first time I whacked a dude with a dildo, I laughed a little. But it gets pretty boring after a while. SR2 worked because they stuck that humor in with a pretty serious attempt at a normal storyline and setting.
I looked up a little more on Rubin's interview and he clarifies that he really liked SR3, but thought it could've done more. And I really agree with that - it was the first Saints Row game where I felt it could've been more, like it stopped short. In some ways, it felt like a simplified version of a Saints Row game - more dildos, but less everything else.
I dunno, maybe you just can't have a good sandbox crime experience without starting out as a low-level street thug first. It was nice getting the penthouse in the beginning, but it was never as satisfying as when you finally bring that smug gang boss to his fuckin knees. Skim172 (talk) 12:11, August 3, 2012 (UTC)
Exactly. Having a relatively normal story moment acted out by a naked protagonist was the kind of thing that made the first two hilarious. If something dumb and funny happened, it was because we as a player made it happen. That needs to return in the third. RomeoReject (talk) 08:49, August 4, 2012 (UTC)

Saints Row 4 really shouldn't come into existence. SRTT is what happens when you give the dev team too much Loa Dust, and even with a new team to back up Saints Row, the series still has this ugly notch on it's belt. The new team now has to work with the SRTT storyline to make the next game, and with the loss of a more serious storyline replaced by this overabundance of childish wackiness, the future looks bleak. Shooting up the town with Johnny as the Third Street Vice Kings in SR, giving Shogo Akuji the end he deserved in SR2, and avenging Carlos' death in SR2 were all wonderful memories; nothing in SRTT matches these truly fun times. Many customization options and features were watered down or just taken out, the storyline was sub-par at best, and we lost Johnny Gat! Why can't the series simply die with what good memories it has left? Neonkitsune (talk) 02:38, January 27, 2013 (UTC)

Most epic DLC ever. of all timeEdit

''Road To Stilwater: (Free DLC for Saints Row: The Third that will be released late 2012 after the final Mission DLC. This DLC will show the events that will lead up to Saints Row: The Forth."

That means there's more DLC left to come there's the dominatrix then Road to stillwater

''Saints Row Complete Collection: (A complete collection of all 3 Saints Row games for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. This will also finally mark the Debut of the first Saints Row game on Playstation 3."

HOLY CRAP ALL 3 in one?.

Mother of celestia Shit's going to get real soon (unsigned:KSI xLongShotz 18:16, June 22, 2012 (UTC))

I don't understand this message; are you making this up? I can't find anything on a "Road to Stilwater" or "Saints Row Complete Collection" via Google. Also, please sign the end of your messages with ~~~~. –Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 18:35, June 22, 2012 (UTC)
I suspect he's making it up, yeah. Especially concerning Dominatrix has very publicly been vetoed and absorbed in to Saints Row 4. RomeoReject 07:47, June 23, 2012 (UTC)
No, in that word document it was detailed about DLC for SR3 i would suggest reading it, and there's a reason i never used the ~ ~ ~ ~. and this is why
Inner_flame.gif 11:49, June 24, 2012 (UTC)
In what document, you listed nothing. And again, Enter the Dominatrix has been absorbed in to SR4, and DLC has already stopped. This is from THQ's own press release. So your trolling is fairly blatent. RomeoReject 16:58, June 24, 2012 (UTC)
Was I the only one who looked at that design document thing? if so then it says there was some other things for SR 3 before No. 4 and i wasn't aware of a press release until you mentioned it i prefer not to use the ~ ~ ~ ~ thing because it's just a nuisance on the page so i don't use it
KSI xLongShotz (unsigned: KSI xLongShotz 18:47, June 30, 2012)
If you're talking about the design document above, why did you create a new section instead of replying to that section?
If you think your sig is a nuisance, why do you have it set like that? The purpose of a sig is to sign talk page comments. --452 22:56, June 30, 2012 (UTC)
Adding on to 452's comment, you can't seriously be pitting some amateur "leaked document" (Which has absolutely ZERO proof backing it up) against Volition's own press release (You know, that very public document that is easily verified). To do so is utterly ridiculous. RomeoReject 06:49, July 3, 2012 (UTC)

References Edit

This article, along with Enter the Dominatrix, sets the gold standard for upcoming articles. Both of them have complete references for all information, and hopefully will set the standard for all articles about Saints Row 4.
Tagging unsourced claims with {{ref?}} simply didn't work with pre-release information about Saints Row: The Third, as there are still many things without references, so we must take a more pro-active approach with ensuring that all information about Saints Row 4 is sourced.

  • Unsourced claims should be removed immediately, with an edit summary indicating that if there is a source for the information, it should be cited.
  • Anyone who adds an unsourced claims should be contacted immediately asking for the source.

THQ filing for Bankruptcy, Fate of Saints Row 4? Edit

So it has been announced that THQ has filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

So what do you think will happen to Saints Row 4?

Will it die since THQ is gone or will it be picked up? )(unsigned: 108.11.163.168 21:53, December 24, 2012

Do not use HTML in comments.
It says at the top of the page to sign your comments with four tildes: ~~~~
Where has it been announced? Can you link to the press release?
No one here works for the publisher THQ, or the developer Volition, therefore we do not know, and what we think is irrelevant.
A quick google news search found these articles:
Hopefully whichever publisher picks it up will demand a better game than SRTT. -452 22:27, December 24, 2012 (UTC)

Canon EndingEdit

So, which is the canon ending? Killing Killbane and taking over Stillwater or saving the gang and going back to become corporate whores?

Snooping around some forums, it seems that the saving scenario is the most probable, since it leaves Killbane and Cyrus alive and very probably hungry for revenge (maybe Matt too), not to mention that the Gangstas in Space DLC helps putting it as canon.

On the other hand, conquering Stillwater opens way for taking over some new territory and act more like a street gang, not to mention the events could make the Boss more of a psycho like he was back on SR2

Be more serious this timeEdit

Please GOD don't be wilder than SR3. I hope they make it where SR3 was a dream, Gat is alive, no Steelport, no Syndicate, and please no Genki this time. SBPTSAngryGermanKid (talk) 04:00, February 6, 2013 (UTC)

What will Saints Row 4 be about?Edit

What would Saints Row 4 be about? I recently googled saints row 4 and it says its coming out This August. I was disappointed with #3. And merging the enter the domantrix with 4. I have no clue what 4 is about hopefully more gangs. Like the syndicate was apart of 4 gang aliance and there pissed off what the saints did and the syndicate was the weakest of the 4. I hope they use the save ending not the kill killbane ending. What do you guys think sr4 will be about? 68.34.162.153 23:59, February 9, 2013 (UTC)Rocco

We don't know yet. I suggest you either wait for a trailer, or do what I'm going to do: wait for the game to be released. There is plenty of stuff to improve on this wiki until then instead of pointlessly speculating. -452 00:38, February 10, 2013 (UTC)

Wiki dedicated to SR4 Edit

So i noticed SR1,2 and 3 have their own wikis aside from this one, so i made this: -spam URL removed- (unsigned: Ccrogers15 15:39, March 17, 2013)

Saints Row 1, 2 and 3 do not have their own wikis. Not active ones at least. If you search google for "saints row wiki", "saints row 2 wiki", "saints row 3 wiki" "saints row the third wiki", "saints row 4 wiki" or "saints row iv wiki", you will always get this one.
This wiki is about the entire series. There is absolutely no purpose in having a wiki for each game. Saints Row IV is going to use the same engine as Saints Row: The Third, so will have much the same content, so there is especially no reason for a dedicated wiki.
Additionally, as it says the top of this page: This page is to discuss the Saints Row IV article and how to improve it. -452 15:50, March 17, 2013 (UTC)
Aren't you the same person who posted the fake Saints Row 4 design document? -452 15:51, March 17, 2013 (UTC)

Saints Row 4 isn't about gangs?Edit

So i seen the SR4 trailer and its all about aliens and being president of the U.S.A. No gangs? But the one guy said before SR3 was released that he knew what the story of number 4 was and its wilder then the third, but then they merged it with enter the dominatrix. Honestly i am a fan of all three saint rows. But the story of number 4 that i seen of the trailer seems gay as hell and they used the same pedestrians and identical steelport. I'm not going to buy it honestly. They could of done maybe three gangs that were affiliated with the syndicate and they were more powerful then the syndicate. Aliens? President? You cant have a story about gangs and thug life, and make the sequel about fucking aliens. Please tell me this is just a side story and not the real story. 68.34.166.22 23:30, March 18, 2013 (UTC)

This page is for discussing improvements to the article. Your opinion the trailer would be better suited as a blog post. -452 23:33, March 18, 2013 (UTC)
