Cyrus' surname Edit

I've temporarily protected this page from being moved/renamed until this whole 'Cyrus Temple' debacle can be sorted out. If someone can confirm his surname is indeed "Temple" with a link to an official source, the page can be moved. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 14:55, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

I concur, a citation is needed before the page is renamed. --452 14:57, October 21, 2011 (UTC)
The forums are currently down, so creating a reference is problematic but here's a google cache link from the forums where V-Singular confirms the name. --WisebloodSA 15:35, October 21, 2011 (UTC)
Ooh, finally. JBanton just forwarded me an email from THQ that confirmed his name too, so that, along with the forum post, pretty much confirms it. I'll make a note of a citation for now, until the forums go up again. Thanks very much! – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 16:38, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

Father Edit

Cryus is Jessica father?

Maybe I'm the only one that picked up on it, but in the cut scene in which Cryus is introduce it seem to implied that Cryus is Jessica Dad with her taking her last name from her mother.07:44, November 20, 2011 (UTC)

Far too speculative to be mentioned, I'm afraid. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 14:21, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
This is being added and removed from the article. Facts are welcome, such as the fact that Cyrus mentions Jessica - but anything other than what is actually stated should stay out of the article. --452 17:12, November 26, 2011 (UTC)
When he explains why he is taking extreme measures to justify stags presence he mentions the exact curcimstances of her death, but I have no proof. But I 100% assure you the proof lies when he first arrives in the game and mentions the incadent in the prievous game. Get it from there someone, because I know myself for a fact he is indeed her father and why he has a hatred for gangs. 18:57, December 2, 2011 (UTC)
Here's a quick transcript from the cutscene that plays after completing the mission "Gang Bang" (where STAG are first introduced):
Cyrus: My name is Cyrus Temple, Commander of the Special Tactical Anti-Gang Unit. I'm here to answer your questions about the STAG initiate.
Reporter: How long will STAG be occupying Steelport?
Cyrus: There is no "occupation". We have the full support of Mayor Reynolds.
Jane Valderama: How will STAG impact our daily lives?
Cyrus: When we win the war on urban terror, you and your families will be safe again.
Jane Valderama: That's not what I asked.
Cyrus: Let me tell you about Jessica Parish, a girl from Stilwater who ran away from home to be with her tough-guy boyfriend. Jessica thought her life was pretty sweet, until a gang banger kidnapped her, threw her in the trunk of a car, and laughed as her boyfriend crushed her in a monster truck rally. If Jessica Parish was your daughter... how far would you want me to go?
There's no mention of him being her father. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 20:53, December 2, 2011 (UTC)
True but it's heavily implied he at least either is her father or knows her father well as indicated by the fact he uses the story and seems to have a grudge regarding it. It should be noted he makes no mention of the protagonist in this directly, so it seems he is unaware of the protagonists involvement, as there is no real real for omitting a piece of information which would could be used against the Saints. However it could be he did not want to make it apparent he has grudge against the Saints and dose not wish anyone to be aware of it, as it may put doubpt on his real motives. It is apparent S.T.A.G focuses their attention on the Saints before they fight back and I do not believe it is because they feel they are an easier target but it is possible. 11:36, December 4, 2011 (UTC)
I think you're speculating and inferring from that statement far too much - he's simply using the story to gain support for STAG. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 21:13, December 4, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the transcript - that in no way implies that he is her father, anyone who thinks so really needs to go back to school and learn better comprehension skills. --452 12:25, December 4, 2011 (UTC)
Cheese your right I am in the habbit of overthinking things. To the the rather rude, uncouth user above. One should be more mindful of what they and how they say it, ignorence is bliss for you, but not for other people. So please in future think before you type so to speak. I do not wish to divulge further information, but given the curcimstances I find your comment both ignorent and hurtful. I expect if you are, truely grown up and not as imature as your comment makes you appear to be, you will avoid this in future. 00:10, December 6, 2011 (UTC)
I meant what I said. In future, please think before you form an opinion. --452 00:50, December 8, 2011 (UTC)

(At this point, the anon user removed the last comment, and started a new conversation on my talk page, which has been moved below --452 20:55, December 9, 2011 (UTC))

I stand by what I said, you should think about what you say before you say it as just as I should. Do remeber any advice you give should also apply to your self, naturally. 11:33, December 8, 2011 (UTC)

I have thought very thoroughly about it, and anyone who does not understand the purpose of using an example and reaching out to the emotions of parents in a speech lacks comprehension skills they should have learned at school.
You lack reading skills which you should have learned at school. It says quite clearly at the top of this page: Please keep conversations in one place, which you have failed to do. --452 11:43, December 9, 2011 (UTC)
Very well I will provide the information you lack, I have a conidition on the autistic spectrum, which effects my social skills and as a result my understanding of both your comments and the relationship between Jenica and Cyrus Temple. Add in a few of my own personal charecter flaws and the end result is negative, all your comments have done is frustrate and upset me and completely failed in pointing where my interpritations are wrong, instead you choose option B peity insult/remark and achieved no positive outcome, nothing has been learned from the incident.
As for your second comment I choose to ignore the statement as I felt the conversation was best moved here rather on a talk page where it could proove no further value. 13:59, December 9, 2011 (UTC)
I am sorry that you are frustrated and upset, but your condition and personal character flaws are your own problem. If you choose to be an editor here, that is your own choice, but please do not allow your own situation to effect others, or expect special treatment.
In light of your condition, do you think it is wise to continue this conversation? --452 20:48, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

Citation NeededEdit

Why is this page full of Citation needed? It all checks out in gameplay, there's no need of this shit, it fills up the page. 03:38, November 30, 2011 (UTC)

They need to be replaced with links to the missions. That's how citations work. It is this wiki's aim that eventually all character pages will have citations to mission pages for each claim, and if people think it make the page look ugly, it will hopefully motivate them to add citations themselves.
The "Citation needed" message does not mean that the claim is considered false, however, so if you feel it checks out, then add them citations! – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 03:47, November 30, 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, is "citation needed" too scary? perhaps we should change it to "reference needed?"
Or perhaps we need more specific fact tags. I've seen them on wikipedia, [Who?] etc. We should have [mission?] and [link?] since those are the main things we require as references. --452 11:24, November 30, 2011 (UTC)
A brilliant idea. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 15:01, November 30, 2011 (UTC)
Which part? :P
For now, I'm going to change {{ref?}} to take a second parameter, which changes the displayed text. As it is, there is a second parameter being used which has a explanation about what is needed and is displayed as mouseover text, but there shouldn't be any tags currently using a third parameter.
I'm also going to change "citation needed" to "reference?" and see if that helps. --452 03:15, December 2, 2011 (UTC)
Done, {{fact||who?}} or {{fact|mouseover text|who?}} works now. :) --452 03:22, December 2, 2011 (UTC)
Both ideas. :D Looks good, although it's a bit weird seeing [reference?] now instead of [citation needed] after so long. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 13:04, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

Opinion of Monica Hughes Edit

Does Cyrus really hate Monica? They both agree on taking down gangs, but his frustration with her seems to be disagreement on how to do so. Their conversation at the end of Convoy Decoy shows Monica prefering "Hearts and Minds" whearas Cyrus prefers "Shock and Awe". He is forced to go along with her ideas as he answers to her. 03:03, February 5, 2012 (UTC)

He may not agree with some of her decisions, but I think it's more like he respects her as she's a senator and what-not. May be either way. More of a neutrality throughout. Ishimura Elite 03:24, February 5, 2012 (UTC)

Cyrus is a soldier, Monica is a politician. Put 2 and 2 together. Ghost Leader (talk) 07:11, September 25, 2012 (UTC)

Home Edit

If there is any evidence that Cyrus' home is Steelport, please provide it. -452 (talk) 20:42, August 19, 2014 (UTC)

Voice Actor Edit

Does anybody know why Cyrus has two different voice actors in Saints Row IV. In Zero Saints Thirty Cyrus has a softer voice and speaks with a slight southern accent. During Hello Teacup, some later missions he's in, his homie conversations and his idle lines all sound like he did in The Third. His page even said that Cyrus' original voice actor played him in both games, but that another guy played him in IV as well. What's up with that? OoppDecks (talk) 16:56, February 15, 2015 (UTC)

I have never seen the reason, but the only thing that makes sense is if his voice actor was unavailable. Which would mean they recorded his Hello Teacup lines first, and that his his appearance in Zero Saints Thirty wasn't originally planned. I can't think of any other reason for his voice actor to have been unavailable.
To speculate even further, perhaps this has something to do with why Shaundi's "because the people who helped us [kill ****|save the world] said we should" line is different in the trailer. Perhaps it was not originally Cyrus in that mission - maybe it was actually Osama bin Laden: there ARE audio files named "voc_osama_bin_laden". Perhaps they realised that that wasn't really "wacky" enough, and someone had the idea of tying up the Cyrus storyline by putting him in the mission.
But that is all assumptions and speculation. We only know three things for sure: his voice actor is different, Shaundi originally named who was killed and they changed her line, and there is a sound bank named "voc_osama_bin_laden". -452 (talk) 19:46, February 15, 2015 (UTC)
Additional things we know: M00_CHECKPOINT_FIND_OSAMA, M00_CHECKPOINT_KILL_OSAMA, audio_object_post_event("M00_Checkpoint_Kill_Osama") - we know know that Osama was definitely supposed to be in the first mission, and we know that there were objectives to both "find Osama" and "kill Osama", so I feel pretty good about my speculation. -452 (talk) 19:51, February 15, 2015 (UTC)
