The Steelport Police Department (SPPD) is the official law enforcement agency serving the city of Steelport in the Saints Row series. The SPPD plays a prominent role in Saints Row: The Third, where it operates as the primary response force to the player’s criminal activities, enforcing law and order in the sprawling, gang-ridden metropolis.
Overview[]
The SPPD is portrayed as a traditional metropolitan police force, complete with patrol officers, SWAT teams, riot police, and standard police vehicles. While attempting to maintain public safety, the SPPD frequently finds itself overwhelmed by the chaotic turf wars between criminal syndicates such as the Morningstar, Luchadores, and Deckers, and especially by the increasingly erratic and destructive actions of the Third Street Saints. The SPPD is ultimately a stepping stone to larger threats as the game progresses, eventually being overshadowed by the STAG (Special Tactical Anti-Gang) forces introduced later in the storyline.
Vehicles[]
The SPPD operates a range of law enforcement vehicles in Saints Row: The Third, each tailored to different levels of response based on the player's notoriety. These vehicles reflect a semi-realistic design, parodying U.S. police forces while retaining the exaggerated tone of the Saints Row series.
Weapons[]
- Stun Gun – A rarely utilized non-lethal option for subduing suspects, typically reserved for specific scenarios.
- KA-1 Kobra – A reliable semi-automatic pistol, frequently chosen by officers for neutralizing threats of any level.
- AS3 Ultimax – A powerful pump-action shotgun, often wielded by high-notoriety officers for close quarters dominance.
- Flashbang – A tactical device that occasionally drops from downed officers, despite this, it’s never actually deployed in combat.

Locations[]
There are three police stations located throughout Steelport, each marked with a prominent "STEELPORT POLICE" sign.
- Sunset Park: Situated near Rondini's Boat Dock, close to Planet Saints.
- Camano Place: Located one block east of the Camano Place Escort Activity, just behind Curly's Chop Block.
- Ashwood: Found within a triangular block, not far from both the Guardian Angel Activity and Snooky's Sundries.
Trivia[]
- Unlike the Stilwater Police Department, members of the Steelport Police all sound the same, and don't have any unique voicings.
- They do not attack when the Playa jumps on top of Police vehicles, and will continue driving regardless.
- A Steelport Police uniform can be purchased at Let's Pretend, under the 'Suits' category.
- The Steelport Police variant of the Kenshin, cannot normally be customized at either Rim Jobs or the Crib Garage. However, it is possible to customize one via the Vehicle Customization glitch.
- Wearing a SPD Uniform Suit does not have any effect on law enforcement Notoriety, or the ability for law enforcement to not recognize the Playa. Similar to the Crooked Cop Uniform from Ultor Exposed.
- In both Saints Row; The Third and Saints Row IV, Steelport Police and SWAT themed Saints are Gang Customization options under the "Cops" section. Steelport Police gang followers wear purple versions of the SPD uniforms, and Saints SWAT have Saints fleur-de-lis on their body armor.
- After using Notoriety Wipe - Police or Notoriety Wipe - The members may continue to wander the area with their weapons drawn, and will sometimes walk up to a regular civilian car, pull out the driver, and then shoot them on the ground, they only do this once before getting back in their squad car and driving away.
- In Saints Row IV, the real world Steelport Police Department is effectively replaced within the simulation by the ZPD (Zin Police Department), a virtual alien controlled enforcement system. While the SPPD doesn’t appear physically in the game, remnants of its existence is still referenced throughout the game.
