Smelterville is a district in Santo Ileso.
Description[]
"Smelterville is the industrial heart of Santo Ileso, the original site of the foundries built to process ore mined from the nearby hills. By the early 1900s, other industries had established roots in this district, taking advantage of convenient access to the rail yards. The economy of Smelterville peaked in the post-war boom era but has declined over the past 50 years.
Founded in Santo Ileso, the Scorpion Automobile Company was based in Smelterville until the 1950s, when it relocated its corporate headquarters to Detroit. The Hammerhead muscle car, first introduced in 1949, was built at the Smelterville assembly plant. The company shut down the facility in 1970 when it could no longer compete with more modern manufacturing plants. Nevertheless, Santo Ileso still considers itself the ""Home of the Hammerhead,"" and the car remains popular among local car aficionados.
By the 1990s, volatility in the metals market led to the collapse of the local mining industry. The ore refineries and smelters were shuttered and scrapped, the facilities demolished or retrofitted for other purposes. As the fortunes of Smelterville declined, the Los Panteros street gang expanded their territory south from Rancho Providencia.
Here you can find the Scorpion Assembly plant – base of operations for Los Panteros and location of “The Forge” and Boomers Short Fuse Fireworks."[1]
