Save/Load

Save/Load^[1] is a feature in Saints Row, Saints Row 2, Saints Row: The Third, and Saints Row IV

A Save Point is a floating icon in Saints Row.

Overview

Saving and Loading can be done at any time using the menu.

Save points are located inside Cribs, the Saints Row Church, and at the location of each former enemy Stronghold which has been taken over.

Saving

Saving a game in Saints Row can either be done using an in-world Save Point icon, or using the menu. There is no autosave in Saints Row.

In subsequent games in the Saints Row series, and game-saving is performed only through the menu.

In Saints Row 2, the game is auto-saved after completing missions and activities.

In Saints Row: Third and Saints Row IV the game is auto-saved more frequently, including after using Stores.

Loading

When loading a saved game, Playa spawns at the Save Point last used. If saved via the pause menu, Playa spawns at the closest Save Point to where the game was saved.

In Saints Row 2 and Saints Row: The Third, when a saved game is loaded, Playa spawns inside the nearest Crib.

In Saints Row IV, if the game is saved while in Virtual Steelport, Playa spawns at the nearest Gateway. If the game is saved while on The Ship, Playa spawns there.

In Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, when the game is loaded, Playa spawns inside the Ultor HQ.

Slots

In Saints Row, there are 24 save slots per storage device, with no autosave.^[2]

In Saints Row 2, there are 23 save slots per storage device, with 1 autosave slot.^[3]

In Saints Row: The Third, there are 23 save slots per storage device, with 1 autosave slot.^[3]

In Saints Row IV, there are 23 save slots per storage device, with 1 autosave slot.^[4]

On Xbox 360, it is possible to change storage device and use USB sticks, allowing for 23 additional save slots per device, but this is not possible on PC, which is limited to only 23 save slots.

Trivia

Before completing the first mission,^[5] there is a Save Point in the Saints Row Church. When the game is saved and reloaded, Playa spawns at this Save Point, as it is the only one available.
