- It's very much an over-the-top crazy adventure where Johnny Gat goes into hell. You tear up Hell. It's an open world sand box you have lots of different activities and diversions to go play in to try and take over the city.

Saints Row: Gat out of Hell was first announced at PAX Prime on 2014-08-29.[8]
On April 20, 2017, Saints Row: Gat out of Hell was released on GOG.[9]
On May 29, 2018, Saints Row: Gat out of Hell was added to the Xbox ONE Backwards Compatibility list.[10][11]
Gameplay[]
In Gat out of Hell, players assume the roles of Johnny Gat and Kinzie Kensington.
There are 102 Challenges in Saints Row: Gat out of Hell.[12]
The majority of gameplay is based on City Takeover, with a quest menu listing Activities and Diversions.[13]
The first Quest is named "Welcome to Hell" and consists of 2 Missions.
The final mission is named Defeat Satan.[14]

The game is set in a new city called New Hades, which has five islands[15]; "Shantytown", "The Den", "Downtown", "Barrens", "Forge", with a tower named "Tower" in the center.[16]
New Hades has 81 Hoods.[17][18] Unlike Steelport, each individual territory is a Hood with a unique name.

- There are no Cheats in Saints Row: Gat out of Hell.
- There are no Radio Stations in Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, although rarely loud music can be heard from NPC driven vehicles, however music mutes immediately when the vehicle is stolen by the player.
- Saints Row: Gat out of Hell is the eighth instalment in the series.[20]
- Excluding Saints Row: Total Control and Saints Row: Money Shot, this is the first Saints Row game in which Playa isn't a playable character.
- Dane Vogel,[21] Troy[22] Dex.[23] Tobias, and Luz return after absences from Saints Row The Third and IV.
- Dane returns as an ally to the Saints and help them out throughout the story.
- Troy, Tobias, and Luz reappear as Husks during Legal Lee's Torment Fraud activity, however they do not have any lines.
- Dex reappears as a Revenge diversion, he randomly spawns on the Map and can be killed multiple times.
- The DyWynter[sic] View District[24] is a reference to Viola and Kiki DeWynter who return in this game.
- The title is a parody of the Meat Loaf album Bat Out of Hell.
- There are 45 Achievements and Trophies in Saints Row: Gat out of Hell.
- The game's release date was announced as 2015-01-27[27], and was changed in a later trailer to 2015-01-20 without explanation.[1]
- God is voiced by Nathan Fillion.[28][29]
- This is the first Standalone Expansion in the series.
- Pre-orders of Saints Row: Gat out of Hell come with a redemption code for the Devil's Workshop Pack.
- The ending in which God resets the universe sets the stage for the spin-off Agents of Mayhem[30]
- This is the only Saints Row game to get a PEGI age rating of 16, rather than 18 unlike other entries.
