El Dorado is a district in Santo Ileso.

Description[]

"Once an industrial area, owned by the reclusive Ketchum family, El Dorado went through significant change after its sale in the 1930’s. Inspired by the resorts and casinos going up on the Las Vegas strip in the 1940s and 50s, a coalition of Santo Ileso business leaders, politicians, investors, and organized crime families joined forces to build their own local gambling and entertainment district. Though it never achieved the stature of Las Vegas, El Dorado became a popular and thriving tourist destination by the 1960s.

In the 1970s, the glitz and glamour of El Dorado began to fade, and the district slowly declined into a sleazy, shabby shadow of its former self. A haven for petty criminals, El Dorado became the last resort for those down on their luck. Today you can find the iconic casinos and resorts for which Santo Ileso is known--The Varmint, Horsefeathers, Poseidon's Palace, Aces High, Paydirt, and Lancelot & The Aztec. The bright lights are still there but illuminate its seedy underbelly of pawn shops, cheap motels, brothels, strip clubs, predatory lenders, and purveyors of tacky souvenirs."[1]
