Renaming Edit

Because "Stub" is a wikipedia term which doesn't really have any relevance here, I'm thinking we should rename the template to "More", reflecting the fact that we're using it to ask for "more information".
As for the category "Stubs" itself, how about... "Content requests", to be more in-line with "image requests" and "reference requests". (Cleanup should be updated as "Cleanup requests" also.)
Opinions requested. If there is no discussion, action will be taken in 1 month. -452 (talk) 18:41, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

I'm positive for this update. As I've been thinking, renaming templates to "... requests" is better indeed. "Stub" could be renamed to either "Content requests", "Information requests", "Info requests" or something other. Maybe we should have "Deletion requests" and "Merge requests" renamed also, although they are seldom used.

I think we'll go with "Content requests" then. I don't think that the deletion and merge categories should be renamed, because they really are "proposals" rather than requests. In some cases it's a user "requesting" that an admin delete a page, but mostly it's for "proposing" that an article be deleted or merged.
The only trouble with renaming the template is that there are hundreds of {{stub}} templates already out there. This is something I could have replaced automatically, but I'm not running that replacement script again for a while. It doesn't really matter though. -452 (talk) 18:02, January 9, 2014 (UTC)
Part 1 done, Category:Content requests created.
Part 2 also done, Template:More created. Template:Stub passes all parameters to Template:More, so existing usages will not break, so existing usages do not need to be replaced immediately. -452 (talk) 00:12, March 26, 2014 (UTC)
Although some caches are going to have to updated before all works properly. -452 (talk) 00:16, March 26, 2014 (UTC)
I probably should have mentioned a few months ago that Template:Stub now contains a list of extant uses of {{stub}}. It's not an important enough change to edit pages specifically to update this template, but it should be done when the pages are edited for other reasons.
My autoreplacement user script currently replaces {{stub}} with {{more}} any time I edit a page, so the number is slowly going down. -452 (talk) 19:59, August 4, 2014 (UTC)
Done. -452 (talk) 09:47, December 24, 2014 (UTC)
